In the spring of 2012, after a nearly 30-year hiatus, the Adair County High School Jazz Ensemble was revived. Since that point the ensemble has grown in size and ability. The Adair County Jazz Ensemble is open to any middle or high school student who participates in the high school marching band. The ensemble rehearses 2-3 days a week after school starting in December. The Jazz Ensemble provides an opportunity for the training and development of students who are beginning their study in jazz. In addition to school concerts the ensemble also perform alongside the Lindsey Wilson College Jazz Band at the Fly Me To The Moon - Hillary Hadley Memorial Scholarship Event each spring. Each year the ensemble performs a wide variety of music from all eras of jazz history. The ensemble also performs with numerous guest artists, performers, and educators each year. In April 2016 the Adair County Jazz Ensemble received all distinguished ratings at their first ever KMEA State Jazz Assessment.
