The Adair County High School Marching Band is the most publicly visible ensemble in the Adair County Band Program. Each year, over 100 students, from grades 7-12, perform their demanding field show at venues all over the state, region, and nation. The marching band is under the direction of Mr. Tom Case and Jordan Humphress.

The following is a listing of several of the band’s more notable accomplishments:

 

  • The Adair County Marching Band was a participant in the world-famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2009.

  • The Marching Band has won the KMEA State Championship in Class A, AA, and AAA a record 22 times since 1986.

  • A state-record 32 consecutive appearances in KMEA State Finals.

  • Numerous Bands of America Regional Class Championships.

  • Bands of America Regional Grand Championship in 2007.

  • Bands of America Class A National Championships in 2005, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, & 2017.

  • Bands of America Grand National Finalist in 1990.

 

The band also performs at school events including home football and basketball games, pep rallies, and various other school activities. The band is the featured each year in the community for events such as the Columbia Christmas Parade.
