Honor bands and other opportunities
Being a member of the band can allow a student to experience many opportunities outside of the classroom, including but not limited to:
HONOR BANDS
Honor Bands are audition-based groups that students can participate in. There are honor bands for both Middle and High School, as well as at the State, District, and Community levels. Students participate in full-day camp rehearsals, with a concert on the final day.
KMEA All-State is comprised of the most skilled musicians across the state of Kentucky, with two rounds of rigorous auditions in November and December. If selected, students participate in a multi-day event at the luxurious Galt House Hotel and Kentucky Performing Arts Center in early February.
All-District is similar to All-State, but only includes students of the district. College honor bands are hosted by local colleges/universities and may have their own audition processes.
